Louise Thompson appeared taken aback, as did her online followers, as she was heard talking to Ryan Libbey in a new episode of their podcast.

The couple first started dating back in 2016. Speaking previously about how the couple met, Ryan said: “We met in Mayfair at my old workplace – in a gym. She came down for a training session..."

Ryan was pictured at Louise's brother Sam's birthday at The Ivy Chelsea Garden in August 2016 and the personal trainer was introduced to Louise’s mum along with Sam's ex-girlfriend Tiffany Watson.

Louise shot to fame on Made In Chelsea with her brother Sam, and Ryan. Louise and Ryan got engaged in Los Angeles in 2018 and in 2021, they welcomed their first child together a son called Leo-Hunter.

But it hasn't been an easy ride for the pair as the birth of their son saw the start of a number of health crises for Louise after an emergency C-section resulted in haemorrhages.

After suffering both physical and mental trauma, Louise faced a long road to recovery and she appeared to be making progress. But 2024 got off to a rough start as she faced two stays in the hospital - the longest being around 17 days long.

Then in early March, of the same year, Ryan confirmed she was back in hospital and ultimately had her colon removed, with her since being inundated with praise for documenting her new normal with a stoma.

It was then in the latest episode of their podcast, He Said She Said, that Louise was heard talking about her scars and Ryan responded by comparing them to Kintsugi, meaning "golden repair" or "joining with gold".

It is a Japanese art form that repairs broken pottery by mending the cracks with lacquer and gold, emphasizing the history and imperfections of the object rather than concealing them.

At the end of explaining the art form, Ryan looked at Louise and said: "You're more beautiful than before," to which Louise looked back and smiled before letting out a shy: "Aww!"

Alongside the clip from the podcast, Louise wrote on Instagram: "Ryan just called my scars beautiful and I’m slowly learning how to take a compliment. Have you heard of kintsugi before? In Japan they repair broken pottery with gold leaf and it makes it more special than before.

"I think scars are pretty cool. They’re a sign of strength and mark a person’s unique journey. If you’re an IBD warrior like me then you may have several abdominal scars. Sometimes you’ve just got to go in to see what’s going on. If you’ve had a C section then you’re likely to end up with a scar too, although it’s amazing how the body can heal over time and reduce them right down.

"They had to cut mine back open and perform a further laparotomy so the healing has not been so bueno. Keloid scar tick. Lots and lots of scar tissue. A bit of a bulge above. I just googled this to find out more info on what it is and it came up with the words ‘mummy tummy’ and ‘apron belly’ … that feels a bit judgy doesn’t it.

"Gosh we go through a lot as women don’t we. I’ve actually just started plonking my red light mask on mine to see what happens. I tried silicon tape and some keloid gel but I’ve kind of reached a point where I’m so busy and I don’t really know what the future holds for me re: further surgeries so I question what’s the point in trying to pave over the cracks. Maybe I’ll start to treat them as gold and shiny things and flaunt them in the sun."

She continued: "Last night I actually found myself scrolling through old photos because my phone is broken and I’m in a temporary one and I saw videos of me in the garden doing Pilates with my old pre stoma body and I was honestly shocked. I was like whaaaat was that body. What was that way of life. It’s like I’ve been so many different people with so many different houses."

Sam was among those to respond to the post as he commented: Love you mate and you’re just the best brother in law @ryan.libbey," before the messages from Louise's fans and followers came flooding in.

@barbine71 wrote: "Well, this made my eyes water and the philosophy behind kintsugi is so true." @bloomandbalancepilates shared: "I absolutely love this!! As someone with many scars, I think they all tell a story and show strength. How beautiful of Ryan for saying this." @louloumangar added: "Beautiful words and he’s definitely a keeper Louise."
