Is Made in Abyss season 3 out? ›

As of January 2023, a third season of Made in Abyss was formally announced, but chances are likely that it's going to be a long time until we see anything from it.

There's not much of a difference between Season 1 and the two recap movies, Journey's Dawn and Wandering Twilight, but you'll absolutely need to watch the third movie to get all caught up.

If one hasn't yet watched the third movie, that needs to be done before watching Season 2. Once all of the material of these movies has been watched, one can feel free to jump right into The Golden City of the Scorching Sun along with Riko and her friends.

Despite the original nature of the story, Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul is canon to the manga/anime, making it required viewing in order to be caught up before launching into Season 2.
