This place is really cool!
I have an impending 80’s action hero party this weekend and we were really stumped for somewhere to get stuff that doesn’t look cheap and perhaps might host replica guns of some sort. I was told that this place would be the best bet so off we went! It had it all. The most surprising thing has to be the prices. They’re pretty good! We managed to get combats, belts, pistol holders and my partner got some kind of air soft pellet gun thing. So cool, it was only £25 too! They really have everything you would need to dress up as an army officer or police officer, or Action Hero! It’s great! The staff are super helpful too, especially the two old lady’s they’re beyond cool!

This place is a hidden gem, let me explain why… Instead of buying plain white gutties (white plimsoles) from the likes of Topman, H&M and River Island why not get exactly the same from this army surplus store for half the price. Forget conforming side with the guttie revolution.
You can get the mentioned shoes at around £9 in this shop depending on size of course. These are the very same deck shoes that sailors wear but they are more comfy than the high street brands and you do not mind messing them up in pubs and clubs because they are so cheap… but lets keep this our little secret *taps nose* because the prices will soar if everyone finds out!

Definitely one for the ‘action men’ amongst us, McCann’s has everything the budding military man or army fiend wants. The shops pretty big and crammed full of a rather comprehensive selection of boots, hats, uniforms, bags, sunglasses, camo netting and some more ‘normal’ outdoors stuff like camping gear, torches etc…
I popped in recently to see if I could get a simple black wool knit beanie as most of the one’s in the fashion stores made me look like Ali G or the stumpy one out of East 17. Lo and behold there it was, black Regatta beanie £2.99 hanging just beneath a more ominous looking black balaclava. Bargain.
The staff were nice and the store was well lit and laid out.
Pros: Big big selection.
Cons: Again, out of the way.

McCann’s Army and Navy isn’t a shop I go into to purchase all the equipment I need for when the Revolution comes or the first Nuclear bomb is dropped. It’s wear I go when I want to dress like an ejit on Halloween or a fancy dress party.
This store is filled with all the things you need to dress up as a soldier, fire man or police man for an occasion where you want to impress with the detail of your costume. You do find quite a few strange characters (who just might really be preparing for the bomb drop) wondering around through the aisles but they are harmless enough. They also stock a range of Air-soft guns; an out-door activity where people shoot pellets at each other across a field (yeah…really). The clothes are all very cheap, although the Air-soft equipment is quite expensive.
